silent film accompaniment

Joshua Stafford is gaining recognition as one of today's leading silent film organists. Drawing on a combination of leitmotif, improvisational techniques, and historic material, he creates scores that are both precisely synchronized to the action on screen and responsive to the energy of each audience.

His performances bring silent cinema vividly to life, combining musical artistry with spontaneous creativity. Screenings frequently draw capacity crowds, particularly during the Halloween season.

A person with short hair, dressed in a black suit, is playing a large pipe organ in a hall. In front of them, a large screen displays a black and white image of a woman in old-fashioned clothing, with short hair and a serious expression, sitting at a table with a glass and a lamp in the background.
